Join Dara Corkery at AVA and learn the step-by-step process of designing a Canvas Table Runner. One cut and primed canvas will be provided with supplies for painting available (see below if you want to bring your own paints). Carpet tape will be used to hem the runners and your runners will include 3 coats of polyurethane for your protection. Dara has over 20 years of experience painting canvas rugs and runners and will be glad to share some of her designs. This class will be using canvas to create table runners based on the tradition of floorcloths and will measure 4’ by 15”. The canvases will be primed and cut and instructions on how this was done will be given. The students will learn how to hem their canvases and then they will be free to paint and design them. Please bring your ideas, stencils and acrylic paints to the class. The instructor has stencils that she is willing to share and paints but may not have colors that you want or stencils that suite your taste. Free hand designs are always encouraged but keep your design simple as drying time can be an issue. Examples of rugs and table runners will be on display at the class.
