Basin Electric Power Cooperative, headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota, generates and transmits wholesale electric power to 139-member electric cooperatives in nine states: Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Basin Electric operates over 8,400 megawatts of electric generating capacity and maintains over 2,600 miles of high-voltage transmission line as of year-end 2024.
